Kengo Kuma and Associates / Même, translucent house

Located inside Même Meadows, Même is an experimental house for cold climates designed by the architect Kengo Kuma with the technical support of Tomonari Yashiro Laboratory at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Industrial Science. The house's theme is the traditional houses of Hokkaido, but incorporates advanced concepts of Kuma and Yashiro, including a geothermal underfloor heating, a heat storage system and a translucent white leather double covering the walls and the ceiling and provides a excellent insulation.
