The Spectris Innovation Center in Porto, with its design by Studium, represents an example of excellence in the field of architecture and intelligent design. The project was developed as a self-managed exercise, building on the challenge of extending one of the existing buildings with inert warehouse space, and resulted in the creation of an inspiring and functional environment.
The privileged location of the center, close to the Porto airport, the metro and the highways, influenced the decision to occupy the adjacent building. This space of approximately 650 square meters is characterized by its rectangular configuration, with a north-east-south-west longitudinal axis and a central nave. The building is vertically divided over two floors, with the offices in the northern area and a back yard of approximately 500 square meters in the southern area.
The entrance to the center represents the fundamental element that unites the past with the innovation required by the present. This creative concept is based on an ambitious program involving the creation of approximately 60 open-space workplaces, combining meeting areas, teamwork spaces, individual areas and decompression and leisure areas. The center's central open space creates a community that fosters interaction between residents and visitors, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment.
The meeting areas follow a scale proportional to the occupation of the existing space. The auditorium, as a generating element of different zones, combines with the boundary and structuring containers to create functional spaces and facilitate the growth of the team on the upper floor. This scale also scales across the spectrum of use, with touchpoints that allow for the extension of the primary performance space, both individually and in groups.
A fundamental element for maximum performance is the possibility to take a break, regenerate and relax. The dining room, located in the rear space, offers a space for meditation and contemplation, allowing employees to enjoy the presence of the collective or to spend time alone, breathing freely. The connection to the gym and games room promotes comfort and well-being in modern offices, offering ideal conditions for the individual well-being of employees.
A unifying element of the entire space is represented by the “+” system, which defines the different areas, functions and atmospheres. This system offers flexible and adaptable solutions to the different needs of innovation and creativity. Open workspaces encourage interaction and the sharing of ideas, while individual spaces ensure privacy and focus. The meeting and collaboration areas are designed to promote communication and synergy between teams, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and the incubation of new ideas.

The back courtyard offers a regenerating space, surrounded by greenery, where employees can relax and rejuvenate.
