From the outset Rexa follows a precise design path based on stylistic, material and functional research with Corian® at its core, a synthetic, silky, homogeneous, malleable and resistant material that the company has chosen to interpret in even unusual solutions, hybridizing it, for example, with natural elements and craftsmanship.

This is where Interwoven was born, previewed at Fuorisalone 2023, a project by the Monica Graffeo studio which led to a reflection around Corian® and woven willow and which gave life to a series of informal containers for the bathroom, and not only that, designed to welcome, enclose, transport. These are created with techniques that break the rigor of Corian® by combining it with the unique sign of the artisan touch and with the value of the typical imperfection of natural materials, in this case the willow.

The world of natural elements such as terracotta, mortar, cocciopesto, blown glass and wood, which has already been interpreted by Rexa in some collections, has now evolved in this project in which the interweaving of two different materials gives life to innovative, creative and functional suggestions capable of going beyond their intended use to become empathetic objects capable of telling the story of a territory.

With Interwoven, Rexa experiments with the traditional processing of baskets, typical of the Friuli area, updating it and combining it with its own ability and experience in working with Corian®.

These elements are created in collaboration with a local artisan, also involved in the cultivation of willows; a practice, the latter, not common but important as it allows the recovery of disused plants while keeping alive less and less widespread varieties, but very interesting chromatically.

Using a technique that can only be performed by hand, with passion and knowledge, willow and Corian® meet, are worked and woven together to create this collection of baskets that combines craftsmanship, industry and the will to experiment. This is how forms of memory are born, functional artifacts, where each piece is unique, unrepeatable and carries with it the sense of time and tradition. The willow weave creates light volumes woven around the Corian® which gives a material counterpoint and solidity.

Interwonen is a natural completion of the Rexa collections because it has an irregular, sensorial, expressive sign, obtained from a humble but extremely ductile element such as willow, contrasted with the synthetic Corian®, a material that the company values and personalizes by always appreciating it in particular for its high-quality, smooth and malleable surface.
