TILT house, designed by the architectural office MUTANT ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN, represents innovative architecture that challenges conventions. With its dynamic movement and three-axis rotation concept, this unique house separates pedestrian and car accesses and creates distinct spaces for the social area and bedrooms. The house makes the most of natural light with a strategic layout of the rooms and offers privacy through the design of internal courtyards.

The architecture studio MUTANT ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN has taken on an ambitious challenge: designing a one-story house to be built on morphologically regular land. The surrounding area, at the time the project was completed, was urbanistically stabilized and characterized by a well-stocked residential area, in the vicinity of several groups of single-family houses and some collective housing buildings.

The fact that the land had two fronts, on streets with different levels of elevation, promoted the possibility of placing the house on an intermediate level and strategically separating the pedestrian access from the access for cars.

The TILT concept generated the proposal and characterizes the triaxial rotational movement of the volume which constitutes the social area of the house. This movement has made it possible to define the main entrance and, at the same time, to enhance the space destined for the pool patio, guaranteeing it privacy with respect to Avenida Miguel Bombarda, characterized by greater traffic flow. This movement also adds a dynamic variation to the ceiling height of the home, enhancing the living area.

The definition of the program has been implemented in accordance with the cardinal points, paying particular attention to the solar rotation movement. Therefore, the bedroom area was positioned to the east, facing the access road with less traffic, the Travessa Miguel Bombarda, developing on the more intimate side of the garden. The master suite approaches the southernmost part of this volume and also connects to the pool area. The kitchen has been positioned at the center of the house, enhancing the different relationships with the various spaces that make up the program. The room is located in a central area of the land, benefiting from the light coming from the east/south/west and allowing the user to have a broad visual relationship with the external environment.

To guarantee privacy and, at the same time, maintain the quality of light inside, two courtyards have been designed, one in the office and the other in the bathroom of the suite.

The TILT house represents a bold challenge to architectural conventions, with its dynamic movement and attention to detail. The architectural office MUTANT ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN has created a unique living space, which integrates harmoniously into its surroundings and offers privacy, natural light and a meaningful connection with the outdoor spaces. A project that demonstrates how architecture can break with traditions and create innovative solutions that respond to the needs of its inhabitants.
