The area to work on was a rectangle measuring 10 meters by 14 meters, to be distributed over two floors. However, the client wanted to avoid building an excessively large area. The solution proposed by the architect was to create a patio facing south, in order to reduce the effective construction area, while at the same time lighting and ventilating the house.
In detail, the ground floor of the house houses the rooms, and here is one of the entrances. On the lower floor, with respect to the ground, there are the common areas open onto the surrounding landscape and the internal courtyard. On this level there are two further entrances, one through the courtyard and the other directly from the living room. The presence of multiple access points may seem unusual, but in this specific case it was a winning choice. The architect admits that, although it is usually not recommended to have multiple entrances, in this specific situation it proved to be a valid choice. Indeed, the arrangement of the entrances inside the house creates a sense of mystery and curiosity. Guests don't even know where to start exploring, as it's not immediately obvious which is the main entrance.
