A shop of an old laundry, long and narrow between two walls, rarely is the first place to which you might think when looking for a house to live.
As the architect of Barcelona Carles Enrich saw great potential to convert the space into a modern house comfortable for a family with a small child.
Because of the significant size limitations, the strategy was centered on an open courtyard, creating a design-plan. Because space is smaller overall, it has created a large open room allows for linear within breathe, reflecting the natural light deep into the back of the house and allowing good air circulation throughout the house - thus avoiding an environment gloomy.
The walls in stone masonry existing beams with bricks and wood were recovered. In the courtyard, a trellis of steel beams and thin reeds softens the direct sunlight. Along the opposite side of the courtyard there is an old warehouse used to be more private or a workspace or a guest bedroom.
