Both Music is a coffee bar nestled in the red city, the creative district of Shanghai.
It is an eclectic mix of music, art and photography, a hidden paradise for Shanghai beat-makers and audiophiles who want to unwind to a curated selection of funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop vinyl.
The space is quite compact and has been beautifully designed by Prism Design.
During the day, café-goers can browse books for inspiration upstairs, or listen to previews on the store's turntables.
The store's vinyl music selection is curated by Nagoya native Yoshiharu Sia Kobayashi whose passion for dark records is evident when looking at the walls. Kobayashi travels to Japan and the United States regularly to bring new coffee vinyls.
At night, the music is passe que local hosts weekly DJ workshops, discussion forums with the musicians, and film screenings.
As a collector with thousands of new vinyls in Japan, Kobayashi wants the people who come to the store to be surrounded and exposed to all kinds of music, old and new.
Both Music also has a lounge where music groups of all genres are invited weekly for sessions with the public.
