The presentation of the products selected by the Permanent Observatory of Design ADI for publication on the ADI Design Museum took place on 3 June in Milan.ADI Design Index 2020, the first volume of the two-year cycle that collects what has been pre-selected for the Compasso d'Oro ADI 2022 Award.

Among «Solutions that emerged quickly with an extraordinary reactivity on the part of the design world, to give responses to emergencies that have emerged related to the pandemic», as stated in the press conference by Francesco Zurlo of the ADI Design Index coordinating scientific technical committee, the NoHAND handle by Manital, designed by Mario Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera, stands out. As explained by Francesco Zurlo, the handle designed by the Brescia-based company is a "significant" model as it represents a "new behavior" designed to protect your hands from contamination by viruses and bacteria.
Elbow and forearm, not the handare in fact the parts of the body that NoHAND involves in opening and closing the door. A change in habits proposed by Manital and awarded by the ADI Design Observatory as it was designed to bring an important collective benefit, especially in highly frequented public places, where continuous sanitation is very difficult.

The recognition also rewards the immediate reaction capacity of the company which, in less than two months, has developed NoHAND during the lockdown of March-April 2020, concentrating its experience, vision and resourcefulness in this new handle intended to bring a social contribution in the global pandemic context.

from essential and modern shape, NoHAND is a patented model made in 304 stainless steel, a material recognized for its hygienic properties and is offered in satin, glossy, white and black finishes obtained with epoxy paint.
On request, it is also available in natural copper, a metal which, thanks to its long-lasting antimicrobial properties, considerably reduces the transmission charge, avoiding contamination of clothing.

As the company's President Luigi Bigoloni explains: "The health emergency has pushed us to make a contribution to society as quickly as possible by exploiting our know-how, which has led us towards a different way of conceiving the opening and closing of the door, protecting the part from the hands more exposed to contamination, which from today are no longer essential to operate the handle. We are very satisfied that the new gesture proposed with NoHAND has been fully understood and appreciated by the Technical Committee of ADI Design ".
