The Villa EB is an organic residence located along the Strada del Vino, in Bolzano. The project is the result of a complex renovation of a 60s villa. The current owners wanted a house that blends into the surrounding landscape, maintaining a modern style and large panoramic windows.

The Villa EB stands on the hills of the south-western side of the province of Bolzano, along the famous Strada del Vino, surrounded by vineyards and small woods. This residence is the result of a complex renovation of a pre-existing villa dating back to the early 60s. The current owners, with the desire to create a home that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, commissioned a project that exploits curved shapes, large windows and materials in harmony with the colors of nature.

The residence, unlike the other private villas built in the area in recent decades, aims to preserve the essence of the primary landscape rather than distorting it. The previous residence, although built with high living standards and quality materials for the time, was closed and had little connection with the external environment. The new owners wanted a house that would integrate with the surrounding garden and woods, while maintaining a modern style and large windows to fully enjoy the surrounding landscape from every angle.

From the outside, the villa is initially not very evident, with a tiled roof that rises slightly from the street level to wrap around the roof. This peculiarity allows the residence to merge with the surrounding land, making its discovery a pleasant surprise for those who approach it. The earth-colored sheet metal cladding helps to emphasize this feeling of camouflage, with voids that create pleasant graphic effects to attenuate the visual impact.

The terraces, essential for admiring the surrounding landscape, are equipped with glass railings that do not interfere with the view. Some parts of the terraces, worked with a curved design, have stones of the same color as the tiles, creating a perfect union between the verticality of the building and the horizontality of the landscape.

Inside, the living spaces on the ground floor and in the upper part are characterized by a wooden cladding on the ceiling which harmoniously contrasts with the gray floors and recalls the natural materials present in the area, such as stone and wood. The continuity between the internal and external environments is guaranteed by large sliding doors that allow you to enjoy the panoramic view even from inside the house. In the interior design, a large helical staircase in metal and wood stands out, with an oval skylight above, which gives a touch of organicity to the residence, creating a fascinating relationship between light and matter.

Finally, the infinity pool blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape, a further element that helps create a continuum between the house, the hill and the sky.

The Villa EB project is the work of the monovolume architecture + design group of architects, an architecture studio founded in 2003, known for its activity in the architecture and design sector, which ranges from urban planning to interior design interior. The architects who make up the team met at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Innsbruck, where they developed several projects together. Thanks to the participation in numerous national competitions, the studio has developed a vast experience, obtaining the success of many realizations that marked the beginning of their professional career.
