INTERVALLO by Foscarini is a work of art that arises from the collaboration between the Foscarini brand, the artist Andrea Anastasio and Ceramica Gatti 1928. This luminous sculpture represents a new interpretation of a ceramic icon, using light as a material to create shadows suggestive and emphasize shapes.

Foscarini, a renowned brand in the world of lighting, presents itself as an independent and free reality, exploring new perspectives on the relationship between light and decoration. In this context, the fascinating Battiti research project was born, with its new masterpiece called INTERVALLO, the result of the collaboration between Foscarini and the talented artists Andrea Anastasio and Davide Servadei of Ceramica Gatti 1928.

INTERVALLO is much more than a lamp; it is a luminous sculpture in which light becomes matter, drawing evocative shadows and emphasizing shapes, to offer the public a new interpretation of a familiar icon. The starting point of this audacious project was a figurative ceramic panel from the historical archive of the Bottega Gatti in Faenza, an authentic treasure of the Italian tradition.

Andrea Anastasio, animated by a passion for collecting materials and for the possibility of working with archives, had the intuition to dissect and re-assemble these ceramic works of art, integrating them with LED technology to create a new form of expression. The artist wanted to maintain a balance between provoking a confused look and sabotaging the pre-existing image and, at the same time, guiding the audience in a visual reconstruction.

“It's not about adding signs, but about generating new ones, making a gesture that alters the compositional nature of something that already exists in the world. I sought a balance between the intention of confusing the eye, sabotaging the image, and guiding it into a reconstruction. It is bringing back into the world a sign that had lost visibility”, explains Andrea Anastasio, revealing his creative inspiration.

INTERVALLO is a precious artistic work that has its roots in the Italian ceramic tradition, but rises to new heights of expression. Proposed in a singular glazed version in a shiny cap colour, this luminous sculpture looks like a piece to love at first sight. Light, treated as a constructive material, helps to give life to unique shapes and volumes that catch the eye and stimulate the imagination.

The Battiti project, presented by Foscarini at Fuorisalone 2022, has given life to a laboratory of pure experimentation on the combination of light and ceramics. INTERVALLO is just one of the surprising creations of this project, which explores the intersection between tradition and innovation. The sculpture lamp, with its enveloping light and elegant design, embodies the very essence of illuminated art.

The collaboration between Foscarini, Andrea Anastasio and Ceramica Gatti 1928 has demonstrated how the fusion of craftsmanship, creative thinking and new technologies can give life to unprecedented works of art. INTERVALLO is an invitation to explore the boundaries of light as a material and to experiment with new forms of beauty in the field of decorative lighting.

Through INTERVALLO, Foscarini reminds us that light is not only a functional element, but also a powerful means of artistic expression. This luminous sculpture invites us to immerse ourselves in a world of shapes and suggestions, creating a unique dialogue between light and ceramics.
