The Murate Complex is preparing to become the incubator of contemporaneity desired by the culture councilor of the municipality of Florence of Empoli and here comes the rapid response of the Florence Design Week (24-29 May 2011), a design festival on the launch pad now in its second edition. During the days of the event there will be an opportunity to appreciate numerous installations: the International Area and the section dedicated to the "I-DES - Projects for Made in Italy" competition, desired by the organizers, come to life from the partnership with the London Design Festival to encourage the production of Italian design and export winning ideas across the Channel; “Habitare presents Ovetto” was born from the collaboration with Gianluca Soldi; the conference “Designing Sustainability”, a series of workshops organized in collaboration with the magazine AND, conceived by the architect Paolo Di Nardo and now in its fifth edition; unique events such as “(S)Barre Codes”, an experience on the border between live art and interaction design to experience the theme of imprisonment up close, with numerous installations and an unprecedented route to the “frozen rooms” of the former prison of Murate; games to discover the geniuses of the world, organized by Essedicom which, during the weekend (Friday and Saturday 18:00-20:00 and Sunday 15:00-20:00), will set up a room with its soft creative projects -educational and a continuous projection of graphics and drawings; “Artemis and the luminous sculptures of Karim Rashid” organized by the exceptional partner; a design showcase by the BAAG studio of internationally renowned architect Pier Francesco Galuppini; a special intervention by Peraria studio, a group of three young artists who experiment in design and graphics to give life to creations that carry a soul and a story. A "six days" full of events enriched by aperitifs and DJ sets different every evening always in the setting of the Murate.
