BRIDGE is a table lamp with a sculptural design, created by Francesco Meda. It is a functional and decorative luminous object, which stands out for its lightness and essentiality.

The BRIDGE table lamp represents a perfect balance between visual essentiality and user experience, embodying an important discreet, contemporary and timeless presence. It is a luminous object that combines functionality and decoration, moving away from the canonical concept of a lamp and assuming the characteristics of a sculptural element with extraordinarily light lines.

The new BRIDGE table lamp plastically represents the simplicity that often lurks in good design. It is a light, absolute and essential object in every aspect. As the name itself suggests, BRIDGE is conceived as a real luminous bridge, radiating a uniform light on the surface. This feature makes it ideal for a personal space, for writing or to highlight a specific area.

At the basis of its concept there is a natural, instinctive and almost evocative gesture of an ancestral game: that of folding a sheet of paper to transform it into a three-dimensional object. Designed by Francesco Meda, already known for his collaboration with Foscarini in the creation of Chiaroscura together with his father Alberto, BRIDGE takes shape from a single metal sheet laser cut and folded without joints to form a luminous bridge. The central body connects to the diffuser and rests on four lateral points.

The straightforwardness of the concept is also reflected in the interaction during use: the light turns on and off simply by passing your hand near the sensor, without needing to touch the lamp. BRIDGE has been a fascinating lamp since its origin, a stratified story that highlights the generative power that comes from the relationship.

In 2014, BRIDGE was self-produced by Meda in a slightly different version from the one currently proposed in the Foscarini catalogue. Right from the start, it became part of the permanent collection of the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale, thus demonstrating the company's constant commitment to making contemporary design research accessible to the public. Foscarini's intervention focused on the functional and lighting characteristics of the project, further simplifying every superfluous element from an aesthetic point of view.

BRIDGE is available in two models with different sizes and in two colours: dark red and brass. The dark red version is made with a laser-cut sheet of steel, folded and then painted with liquid. The brass version, on the other hand, is made from a polished brass sheet, also laser cut and bent, and whose structure is completely painted with a transparent enamel to prevent the brass from oxidizing.

The lighting part of the lamp is made up of an LED board with an infrared optical sensor in the centre, which allows you to easily turn the lamp on or off by simply passing your hand in front of it.
