Description

Incarnation of the modern style of the 30s-50s, an icon of industrial aesthetics for almost a century, the A chair by Tolix has crossed the ages and styles to become a classic inscribed in the collective memory. Its inexhaustible popularity since 1934 has made it part of the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, the MoMa and the Center Pompidou… An international recognition for this “living heritage” which illustrates the French art of living. The '' A '' chair marked the history of design. Its designer, Xavier Pauchard, used pressed sheet metal and zinc for the first time to manufacture this mass-produced furniture. The Tolix chair thus becomes the first French industrial chair. Today, every chair that comes out of the ateliers is unique and bears the Tolix signature engraved in the metal. This version of the A chair is made of sheet steel with matte paint. This finish gives depth to the material. For indoor use only - Stackable up to 8 chairs - 7 holes for water drainage on the seat - Figure among the permanent collections of the Vitra Design Museum, MoMa and Center Pompidou - First French industrial chair - 100% French production
