It has perfect resistance to corrosion, even in environments such as swimming pools or the sea. 100% outdoor, this A chair enhances the natural beauty of metal. It is made of raw stainless steel sheet with a dark transparent paint. Represents the modern style of the 30s-50s; An icon of industrial aesthetics for almost a century, the A chair by Tolix has crossed eras and styles to become a classic inscribed in collective memory. Its popularity since 1934 has led to its entry into the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, the MoMa and the Center Pompidou… An international recognition for this “living heritage” that expresses the French art of living. The A chair has established itself for its minimal aesthetic, its solidity and its great lightness. On board the liner Normandie in 1935, the Tolix chair also furnished the spaces of the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques in 1937. It is also found on many café terraces, before entering the private sphere of the 50s. The “A” chair marks a significant stage in the history of design. Its designer, Xavier Pauchard, used stamped sheet metal and zinc for the first time in the production of mass-produced furniture. The Tolix chair becomes the first French industrial chair. Today, the company has acquired high-performance digital appliances that accompany many manual operations and the tooling inherited from history. Each chair that comes out of the atelier is unique and features the Tolix signature, engraved in the metal. It is with genuine recognition that Tolix received in 2006 the label of “Company of the living heritage” conferred by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. For indoors and outdoors - Perfect resistance to corrosion, even in humid environments such as the sea or swimming pool - Stackable up to 8 chairs - Figure among the permanent collections of the Vitra Design Museum, MoMa and Center Pompidou - First French industrial chair
