Philippe Starck was born the 18 January of 1949 in Paris.
After graduating from the École Nissim de Camondo in Paris, he immediately contributed to important architectural projects, including the one relating to the furnishing of the private rooms of President Mitterand's apartment.
From the earliest years, Starck was able to show his natural gifts for design, contributing to numerous important exhibition projects, a designer who introduced a different idea of the concept of "furnishing accessories".

Style and creative philosophy of Philippe Starck: the "democratic and eco-sustainable" designer

Philippe Starck's style reflects the idea of a democratic design, and also for this reason he can be considered the artist who, perhaps most of all, has contributed to revolutionizing French design.

One of his famous creations, an aluminum chair with light and industrial lines, rigorously finished by hand, was even used to reproduce the setting of important cinema films, as well as being used to furnish the famous Frank Gehry mansions.

In fact, the designer prefers the use of light and cheap materials, such as aluminum, with the aim of reproducing an industrial design style, characterized by the use of expressionist elements but which do not renounce functionality and utility.

The idea of democratic design, which has always represented the artist's philosophy, allows to reduce economic costs without sacrificing elegance, with the aim of creating eco-sustainable objects accessible to all, that is economic and respectful of environment (Philippe Starck's intent is to create furnishing accessories suitable for everyone, even from an economic point of view).

In fact, all Philippe Starck's creations appear with a captivating and often eccentric design, but always with a touch of humor, irony and sarcasm, characters that are easily found in the shapes and designs used in his creations (furnishing accessories that produce an effect that 'artist himself defines subversive, ethical, ecological and humorous).
