Presented the Salone del Mobile 2016 scheduled from 12 to 17 April in Milan, important news of this edition that aim to consolidate the Milanese design week as a world reference event in terms of design and furnishing trends.
The 2016 Salone del Mobile was presented with a press conference held at the Unicredit Pavilion, among the Porta Nuova skyscrapers. The event, hosted by Camila Raznovich, was attended by, in addition to the leaders of the Salone del Mobile, the president Roberto Snaidero and the managing director Giovanni De Ponti, also the mayor of Milan Giuliano Pisapia and, in connection from Rome, the deputy minister for economic development Carlo Calenda.
The important numbers of the last edition confirm in Milan the role of the world capital of design, numbers that hopefully can be equaled, if not exceeded, given that also for the next edition the exhibition spaces have been completely assigned, we are talking about 207.000 square meters of net exhibition area.
However, we continue to explore new ways to try to maintain and consolidate this key role of the Milanese design week, the research has led to some important innovations.

ROOMS. Other philosophies of living, XXI Triennial
The Salone del Mobile is not only the fair, but above all a cultural event. In line with this thought, collaboration with the XXI Triennial, which is entitled “Rooms. Other philosophies of living ". The exhibition curated by Beppe Finessi will take place from 2 April to 12 September 2016 and consists of 11 rooms created by a selected group of authors, including Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre, Duilio Forte, Carlo Ratti, invited to stage their own "philosophy of living".
xLux
Another novelty of the Salone del Mobile 2016 will be the new area called xLux, which is added to the two large areas traditionally present, the classic area and the design area, in this area products will be collected which, due to their characteristics, straddle classic and design. This area will see a strong presence of the major fashion brands, including Borbonese, Fendi, Ferrè, Paul Mathieu, Roberto Cavalli, Ungaro and Versace, as well as internationally prestigious brands, such as Aston Martin, Ritz, in world premiere, and Tonino Lamborghini .
The xLux area aims to respond to the growing demand for a type of product that is already established and required mainly on the American, East and Far East markets.
New logo and new website
With the intention of transforming “Salone del Mobile” from a brand to an icon, a new advertising image was conceived by Lorenzo Marini. The graphics consists of one eye and the number 55 is a synthesis between past and future, going to fish out the symbolism of advertising campaigns on the occasion of the first editions of the Salone del Mobile.
The new icon is added to a renewed web platform that with the Archiproducts collaboration will offer greater visibility to companies, even after the end of the hall.
Before design: Classic
An exhibition and event, a tribute to the companies that have continued to produce and develop classic furniture over the years. A short film by Matteo Garrone is added to the exhibition, which will be visible at the fair.
Facilitate visitors
Among the various new Furniture Fair 2016 some are aimed to facilitate visitors.
100 student volunteers deployed at key points with the tablet, will offer their help to visitors to disentangle the multiple events, while an agreement with airbnb It will make it easier to search for accommodation.
