"2022 was a year of great satisfaction and goals, achieved thanks to strategic choices that put innovation, dialogue and sustainability at the fore. We are among the few companies with these numbers that still have ample room for maneuver in conquering foreign market shares: this motivates us to do even more, with optimism and confidence for an increasingly prosperous future for us and for the people who orbit around the company."
With these words Daniele Lago, CEO & Head of Design of LAGO SpA, welcomes 2023 following a year that has seen the company never so high in terms of economic results. In fact, the 2022 financial statements closed with a turnover of over 62 million, and an EBITDA of over 27%, while maintaining high margins. In the wake of previous years, closed with ever-increasing balance sheets, LAGO is rewarded by the strategic choices of its past, as well as those that have seen definition and implementation during 2022. Given the results obtained, the company has decided to share this goal with its collaborators through corporate welfare, with a view to rewarding and sharing value in line with the sustainability objectives it intends to pursue.
Among the most relevant commitments, the one on the international front, both in the retail and contract sectors. In the latter, economic flows increased by 200% compared to 2021, through real estate projects also overseas. At the same time, the distribution network also grew in the past year, with new stores all over the world: today there are over 350 throughout Europe and around a hundred in the rest of the world, including the recent openings in the Ivory Coast, Las Vegas and Cancun, and the upcoming stores in Jakarta, Singapore and Dubai. These are just some of the foundations from which the strategies for the next few years will start: despite the results obtained, in fact, the margins of penetration of foreign markets are still wide, given that today the company is 75% on the domestic market and therefore has significant growth potential.
2022 for LAGO has seen an increasingly concrete approach towards global and expanded sustainability, capable of creating value for the company by balancing people, nature and technology. Among these Good House, the multi-year revolutionary stand presented at the Salone del Mobile 2022, whose totally recyclable structure guarantees the avoidance of up to 87% of greenhouse gas emissions (eg CO2) into the atmosphere compared to traditional stands, thanks to the elimination of waste and the almost total reduction of weight and volumes of materials. Not just a redesign of a single exhibition space, but an invitation to rethink the entire fair systems.
2023 will continue to see LAGO at the forefront of commitment to and alignment with the UN 2030 Agenda: through concrete actions and in a systemic manner, the company has identified the main areas and levers at its disposal to help achieve development global sustainable. Among these, he focused on health and well-being (SDG 3), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13). Initiatives such as collaboration with social cooperatives and charitable projects, the approach based on circularity along the entire supply chain, and reskilling through personalized development paths for workers have been developed on these issues.
"The challenges of the international scenario, the global trends that indicate sustainability as an increasingly essential urgency and the numbers of the latest balance sheets, which give even more importance to foreign markets, suggest the guidelines for our next challenges, to be overcome by always keeping in mind the way we intend to design and do business. For the results achieved and for what is to come, I thank the whole team, which contributes to continuously surpassing itself” concludes Daniele Lago.
