Foscarini, the well-known Italian lighting brand, will present a preview of its new collections on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2023. The novelties will be exhibited in the renewed setting of Euroluce (pav.11 - stand 106) and at Foscarini Spazio Monforte, with two installations created by the designer Ferruccio Laviani. The two exhibition spaces are distinguished by an essential style and a dreamlike and immersive atmosphere, which highlight the legibility of the new lamp models.
One of the focal points of the story that Foscarini wants to convey to the public concerns its long tradition of collaboration with designers outside the company. In fact, each Foscarini lamp is the result of a joint project, the result of a dialogue and an exchange of ideas between different creative minds. This approach makes it possible to create unique design objects, distinguished by character and meaning, capable of establishing a lasting relationship with those who choose them to enrich the spaces in which they live.
In addition to collaborating with external designers, Foscarini is also characterized by her curiosity towards new languages and talents. The company is always looking for new ideas and innovative solutions to respond to the design challenges and needs of the lighting market. This open and experimental approach has allowed Foscarini to stand out on the international design scene and to create one-of-a-kind lamps.
Another fundamental aspect of Foscarini's philosophy is research on materials. The company is constantly engaged in the study and exploration of new materials and technologies, in order to offer cutting-edge lighting solutions. This attention to materials makes it possible to create lamps with original shapes, interesting textures and unique plays of light, which transform the environments in which they are placed even when they are switched off.
The new collections that Foscarini will present during Milan Design Week 2023 fully reflect these three pillars of the company's philosophy. The lamps are the result of collaborations with talented designers, who have showcased new expressive languages and experimented with innovative materials. Each lamp has its own character and meaning, and is able to create suggestive and exciting atmospheres, transforming the spaces in which they are located.
The language used in the Foscarini exhibition stands during the fair and in the Corso Monforte showroom is different but coherent, highlighting the variety of characters and meanings of the brand. While the stand at the fair is characterized by an essential and legible style, the layout of the Corso Monforte showroom is immersive and dreamlike, creating a unique sensory experience for visitors.

Among the most awaited previews of Milan Design Week 2023, FREGIO stands out, a suspension and wall lamp that arises from the evolution of the Battiti research project, conducted by Andrea Anastasio in collaboration with the Gatti artistic workshop.
FREGIO will be the protagonist of the installation of Foscarini Spazio Monforte, which will present to the public the new creation born from the integration of particular luminous views and archival ceramics, already presented by Foscarini at the Fuori Salone 2022. The Battiti project saw Anastasio work on the historical works of the Gatti archive, a famous artisan workshop based in Faenza, dismembering them and then reassembling them with strips of light, creating new shapes and meanings.
FREGIO was designed by Andrea Anastasio in collaboration with the Gatti workshop, and is a project that reflects Foscarini's desire to propose new expressive languages using different materials. The lamp takes its inspiration from the bas-relief, in particular from the frieze, which is the part of the entablature located between the architrave and the frame and is often what remains of complex architectures, bearing witness to articulated past narratives. “FREGIO is the result of research into the relationship between light and volume and how the bas-relief depends on the way the light touches the surface of the material,” says Anastasio.
FREGIO's design is characterized by its horizontal trend, which from the very beginning guided the decision to conceive a suspended lamp that can "decorate" tables or desks, offering an important light, directed both downwards and upwards . The illuminating function and the narrative one, entrusted to the ornament, are clearly distinct and outlined, allowing the frieze to dialogue with the space even when the lamp is off.
Two straps at the ends of the frieze anchor the two ceramic sections to the metal profile containing the LEDs, emphasizing the constructive mechanics and transforming the strap itself into a structural and ornamental element at the same time.
Foscarini is known for its constant search for new design solutions and innovative materials, and with FREGIO the brand continues to explore new expressive horizons, creating a work that combines artistic aesthetics with functional lighting. FREGIO presents itself as an important novelty to be discovered during the Milan Design Week 2023.
