Foscarini, the Italian lighting company, will present its new collections on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2023, exhibiting at the Euroluce fair (pav. 11 – stand 106) and in the FuoriSalone at Foscarini Spazio Monforte, with two installations designed by Ferruccio Laviani.

Experimentation with shapes and materials, constant attention to the product and exploration of new expressive possibilities are the main themes that characterize Foscarini's novelties. The company has a long history of collaborations with external designers, and on this occasion it presents a combination of historical collaborations alongside the new ones that arise.

The story that Foscarini brings to its audience develops around three main axes: the continuity of the design dialogue with creatives outside the company, the curiosity towards new languages and talents and research on materials to respond to design themes and new expressive possibilities.

Each Foscarini lamp is in fact the result of a joint project, built through dialogue and exchange, with the aim of creating distinctive design objects in terms of character and meaning, capable of arousing a lasting relationship with the people who choose them. for the spaces in which they live. In Foscarini, the idea becomes a lamp when it offers the possibility of exploring new horizons of meaning and the ability to create relationships with decorative lamps capable of transforming space, even when switched off.

Among the novelties presented in preview, the FREGIO lamp stands out for its unusual shape and its particular history. FREGIO was born from the evolution of the Battiti research project, conducted by Andrea Anastasio starting from the experience with the Gatti artistic workshop: an exploration of the value and meaning of "decoration" through the integration of particular luminous views and ceramics of archive presented by Foscarini on the occasion of FuoriSalone 2022.

FREGIO is a new suspension lamp designed by Andrea Anastasio in collaboration with the historic Gatti artisan workshop, based in Faenza. The project takes its inspiration from the frieze, the part of the entablature located between the architrave and the cornice, often the remains of complex architectures, bearing witness to highly articulated past narratives.

The result is a work that tells of Foscarini's desire to propose new expressive languages by exploiting different materials and the research on the relationship between light and volume. In particular, FREGIO explores how the bas-relief depends on the way in which light touches the surface of the material, creating new shapes and meanings.

The suspended lamp has a horizontal shape which makes it ideal for "decorating" tables and desks, offering an important light directed both downwards and upwards. The illuminating and narrative functions are distinct and well defined, allowing the frieze to dialogue with the space even when the lamp is off.

The lamp consists of two ceramic sections and a metal profile containing the LEDs. Two straps at the ends of the frieze anchor the ceramic sections to the metal profile, emphasizing the constructive mechanics and transforming the strap into a structural and ornamental element at the same time.

FREGIO is proposed in the suspension version with a dimension of 120 cm and in the wall version of 75 cm. With this project, Foscarini demonstrates once again his passion for design and innovation, combining the artisan tradition with contemporary aesthetics.
