An authentic lamp, which tells itself for what it is: designed solely with a light source and a power cable, Wireline is the latest addition to Formafantasma for Flos.
“Further elaborating the design principles of the previous WireRing lamp, we have once again used the electric cable as a characterizing element of the project. Made of rubber, it hangs from the ceiling and flattened almost to take on the appearance of a belt: its role is to support an extruded grooved glass rod that houses the LED light source. The choice of materials was dictated by the desire to play on the contrast between the industrial feel of rubber and the sophisticated feel of glass. The lamp can be installed as a single piece or in a repetition of modules to obtain elaborate visual compositions. Packed it has minimal dimensions ".

There is design in its most accomplished meaning in WireLine, the lamp of Formafantasma the result of a new collaboration between Flos and the studio of Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, the second after the success of WireRing in 2017.
Presented in preview at the Salone del Mobile and at miart 2019 (international fair of modern and contemporary art in Milan), where it had illuminated the Vip Lounge, WireLine is now available for the global market.
The concept: to transform the power cable into an important element of the shape
A fitting example of industrial design enhanced by an artistic expression, WireLine is a perfect representation of Formafantasma's design universe. The project was born as an evolution of the idea that led to WireRing in 2017. In the words of the designers, that of "Transforming the power cable of a light source into an important element of the form, an aesthetic, iconic and performative aspect of the piece in a space".
WireLine is a long, slim body in which the power cord becomes an essential aesthetic feature: Flattened to look like a belt, made of rubber and hung from the ceiling, it delicately supports a sophisticated extrusion of fluted glass, which contains and diffuses the LED light source.
WireLine thus realizes the ambition of reducing a lamp to its essential components, of designing solely with its light source and power supply tool.
“Every author has an obsession. Ours is the light " explain Trimarchi and Farresin. “We explored light with independent projects and then with Flos, first with WireRing and now with WireLine. We like that light is intangible, but also technical and emotional. And it is one of the few fields of design in which an important technological innovation has occurred that has changed everything, from design, to use, to the human experience: the LED. It is because of its being a territory still to be explored that lighting is, without a doubt, the most exciting sector of design ".
For residential and contract spaces that care about design
Available in finishes pink and forest green, WireLine can be installed as a single piece or in a composition of several elements to obtain elaborate visual arrangements, always maintaining the characteristic of practicality and minimizing the space required to be stored. Suitable for very high ceilings, in hotel lobbies or similar contract situations, WireLine is ideal also for domestic environments, loft and open space.

The technical characteristics
The power cord is constructed as a soft touch rubber strap and contains two electrical conductors. Its length can be adjusted according to the height of the ceiling, from a minimum length of about two meters to a maximum of eight.
WireLine gives off a compact and homogeneous light thanks to the particular diffuser, an extruded extruded borosilicate glass bar that contains the LED light source. The light bar is fixed to the belt by means of two metal connectors, one of which is electrified and one is mechanical. The lamp is completed by two rosettes, one of which is placed in correspondence with the light point and containing power supply and dimmer (Push, DALI, and 1-10V).
