The recent new opening is the first phase of the OHR O'Keefe museum of art in Biloxi, Mississippi, designed by Frank Gehry.
Situated within a grove of ancient holm oak trees, Gehry envisioned the O'Keefe OHR project as a series of six small pavilions woven between the trees and connected by a brick plaza, creating an inviting and lively arts campus that maintains the current park layout and encourages pedestrian circulation within the site. the entire system uses a micropile foundation system to minimize the impact on the root system of the oak trees.
The use of local materials, the use of references to the local vernacular, the scale and position of each of the pavilions on the site, represent the sensitive response to the conditions of the place and the context of the surrounding area. the 25 square meters of the OHR O'Keefe - museum campus offer facilities for art exhibitions, education, cultural and social events.
