The winners of the XXIV edition of the Compasso d'Oro ADI, the most authoritative award for the world of design, conceived in 14 by Giò Ponti, were awarded on June 1954 in Milan, at Palazzo Isimbardi.

After careful evaluation by a panel of experts, they were awarded 13 Golden Compass, 56 honorable mentions, 3 9 awards and certificates youth plates e 12 awards for lifetime achievement.

The Compasso d'Oro for his career it is attributed to personalities, companies and institutions that have made a particularly significant contribution in the areas of design, research, production or distribution. Among these, the architect was awarded Carlo Bartoli.

At the awarding of the Compasso d'Oro, the reasons that led to the architect's award were highlighted: “For having been able to combine, in his professional experience, a poetics constantly aimed at researching the essence of the creative gesture with a particular ability to be in tune with the growth and development needs of many furniture companies. He provides the companies he meets with original and innovative contributions, thus contributing to their success. A rigorous project path, declined in the various thematic areas, with sobriety and measure, constantly contributing to the enrichment of the culture of Italian design ".

Carlo Bartoli He declares: “I like to design products that last over the years, not intrusive and that give the feeling of having always been where you place them, but nevertheless provoke the imagination. My effort is to design stimulating objects and avoid banality, at the same time objects of common use that become part of the everyday landscape in a non-overwhelming way, to give psychological well-being and comfort. For this reason I orient the design language towards a balance, trying to transfer cultural values to the product, respect for the dignity of tradition and technological innovations when they bring benefit to the product. The Studio is like a Renaissance workshop: we are between five and ten people; we discuss, criticize or disassemble ideas during the design process. We are looking for long-lasting products - the most important quality for us - which we normally refine with a gradual process and through a continuous dialogue with companies ".

Carlo Bartoli, born in 1931, has partnered with companies that have become benchmarks for the design, planning products such as Gaia chair, designed for Arflex in 1967, included in the permanent collection of the MOMA in New York and the Design Museum Triennale di Milano, the chair 4875 for Kartell, the first in the world made entirely from polypropylene, part of the design collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

After years of working with the children Anna and Paul, signed by Bartoli Design, in 2007 It was officially founded the group practice Bartoli Design which continues to this day the design and culture experience of the project inaugurated in the 60s. For the studio the awards continue, obtained for example with the chair One R606, Designed with Fauciglietti Engineering for Segis, XXI Compasso d'Oro ADI in 2008, and more recently, the tables collection Octa, Steel and glass for Bonaldo, awarded the Good Design Award 2014.
