When design marries functionality, even a bench, an essential urban element of any city, acquires new meanings and makes its way into the firmament of winning and revolutionary ideas. It is the case of Wi-Bench, The result of ePlaza, A design competition sponsored by Municipality of Jesi - Department of Economic Development and Special Projects, fromCultural Association ZAP JUICE and from International School of Comics.

The contest, aimed at professionals, professionals and students of architecture and design at the international level, had as its objective the creation of a seating system that was innovative and could adapt to the technological needs of the citizen todaywhile maintaining a strong traditional identity. A jury made up of design, architecture, construction, communication and marketing experts unanimously declared the winner in 2012. The presentation of the technological bench and its designer, theArch.Thomas Tavani, Winner of the contest for the seat technological e-plaza, Was organized by the City of Jesi at the Galleria degli Stucchi Palazzo Pianetti.

Wi-Bench has beaten the competition of the other 150 proposals in the competition, thanks to the project that is futuristic but adaptable to any urban context. The bench, made in DuPont ™ Corian®, Was conceived by Thomas Tavani, a young Italian architect who has been able to best interpret the spirit of competition. In fact, the project integrates perfectly with the environment and the territory, without affecting its historical value or modifying its architectural structure, contributing instead to increasing its aesthetic value.

In fact, Wi-Bench constitutes the expression of the theory of design: it is a harmonious and pleasing piece of furniture but with a high innovative content. The bench, with its intriguingly square profiles, is the perfect place to take advantage of the social spaces or the precious moments of relaxation that you can carve out during the day. In fact, the seat, with pure and minimal lines, allows you to be outdoors and at the same time enjoy the functional benefits of a technological station. Wi-Bench has been designed for the use of portable and wireless devices, and includes an integrated photovoltaic system to charge the batteries of laptops, mobile phones and other devices.

The session was conducted by the company Modula Srl, laboratory specializing in the fabrication of DuPont ™ Corian® which belongs to the "Corian® Quality Network". Tommaso Tavani's choice to use DuPont ™ Corian®, in the Glacier White variant, was dictated by the need for extreme malleability and durability over time that the techno-surface is able to guarantee.
DuPont ™ Corian® is in fact the ideal material for the realization of projects dedicated to street furniture, thanks to its technical characteristics. Hygienic, extremely easy to clean, requires low maintenance, is restorable, non-porous and resistant to atmospheric agents. It is in fact often chosen by designers for the construction of external facades with a high aesthetic impact and superior technical characteristics.

In addition, the thermoforming and ductility of the techno-surface allowed the architect Thomas Tavani to devise a concept with a sleek, no visible seams and totally ergonomic.
