The design factory in Turin, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin, promotes the contest "Local Products Industrial design contest".
Subscriptions are open to participate in the first contest sponsored by Torino Lab, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin, entitled "Local Products Industrial design contest". The goal of the competition, which will remain open until 14 October, is clear and at the same time very ambitious: to investigate the social and symbolic of the kitchen. The contest is aimed at the design of unusual items, authentic, inspired by the sphere of conviviality and tradition.
The initiative of the call is placed on a going over those who are the main principles of the philosophy of Torino Lab, whose flagship line - the "Local Products Industry" - is made up of products manufactured by the use of raw materials and semi-finished products that already exist, using materials provided by partner attentive to the issues of environment and involving companies in the Piedmont area. Project proposals that are received in the competition must therefore provide for the use of materials, technologies and finished their companies selected from Torino Lab as a partner of the competition, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin.
The call is open to professional designers, but also to students, who will compete in two separate categories, and will have the opportunity to participate individually or in groups.
A jury of industry experts - coming from the Industrial Union of Turin, ADI (Association for Industrial Design) Piemonte, Italy from FabLab, by the Turin Design Week and by the auctioneer himself - as well as a representative of each business partner of the competition, will decide a winner for each category in the race.
The coincidence of the award with the fifth edition of the Torino Design Week, will give the opportunity to the finalists of the competition to see exposed their own projects within the event.
The most interesting ideas, also, will be selected with the aim to implement the prototyping and production (also in a limited edition). The products, once made, will be offered for sale at the TO.LAB Design Store - always official showcase products Torino Lab - and 42 Workshop located at the Italian Design Outlet Santhià.
The main evaluation criteria used by the jury will be, in different percentages, feasibility, and the appropriate use of innovative materials, technologies and components, consistent with the philosophy and spirit proposed by the competition and the inherent characteristics of the project as regards originality, performance, content and the impact on the environment.
Signing up is simple: the designers will be required to present documentation that includes the own registration data, the graphic design and the standard form of the concept, with its technical specifications.

Turin Lab is a multidisciplinary design studio specializing in the use of raw materials from industrial sources for the realization of everyday objects.
