The LED lighting technology offers lighting designers greater flexibility and energy savings, allowing you to achieve results unthinkable until a few years ago in lighting of the historical heritage.

That's what emerges from the event in which we participated, organized in Rome last October by 28 Linea Light Group, leader in the LED lighting sector, on the occasion of PLDC, the two-year convention of lighting designers.

That of illuminating the archaeological heritage is a challenge that encompasses difficulties at different levels, especially if it is a case of places extremely charged with historical value, going back to Roman times, we are talking about the Domus Augustea, the Casa di Livia and of the Baths of Diocletian, three places recently restored, including the reconsideration of lighting, led by two Roman lighting designers, Caterina De Camillis and Riccardo Fibbi.

After an initial phase of evaluation linked to the constraints imposed by the superintendent has been the choice of LED lighting technology to the multiple advantages that offers, among which the important characteristic of not producing UV rays, ideal condition for the retention of pigments zones decorated.

The lighting design was not limited to lighting in the strict sense, but tried to recreate the original conditions of light and perception of space, as in the Domus Augustea where a ceiling was added to achieve this result. to accommodate the lighting fixtures allows to reconcile the part of the preserved spaces with the connotation of closed spaces.

LED lighting technology and the know-how of Linea Light Group, guided by the intuitions of lighting designers, have made it possible to create an installation with a minimalist presence in the Domus Augustea, but with a complex lighting management system based on the concept of dynamic white, that is a white with programmed variations from very cold shades to very warm shades.
