COLLAGENE is a software written to create masks adaptive and customizable, our future is made of plastic and comes out gradually from a printer 3D.
The project COLLAGEN, developed by DO THE MUTATION , explores the boundary between physical and virtual, the connection between the computer's abstraction code with the intimate, visceral dimension of the alteration of the body inherent in the theme of the mask.
The topographic anatomy of the face acts as an input to algorithms that generate the fibers that form the object, creating a material formation that after 3D printing adapts perfectly to its territory, people's faces. The masks are produced as unique pieces, through 3D printing and WINDFORM materials provided by CRP GROUP .
WINDFORM LX 2,0 is the material of choice for this state-of-the-art application of generative design and is a black polyamide-based fiberglass-reinforced material used in high performance fields from motorsport to the aerospace industry.
It is aesthetically pleasing, able to preserve the chromatic characteristics over time, showing important mechanical characteristics that allow to create very complex geometries avoiding the risk of breakage or deformation.
