The London designer Andy Martin will present his new furniture project in Meet My Project during fuorisalone 2012, under the theme INSPIRATION.
Undergraduate Shelf is the reinvention or re-inspiration of classical building in brick and wooden floors stacked on top of each other until a library that is typically found in the cramped accommodation of students.
"When I was a student, in Sydney, in the accommodation of the campus with other students 3 we built brick shelves everywhere, have come to form the walls between us. In the following years they have evolved with paintings and graffiti that dominated our space. "
Undergraduate Shelf in the bricks are now in carved and lacquered. The blocks are coupled together using a rubber disc that allows for some flexibility for slight movements of the wood. Andy sees this as a "back to basics" to get rid of the complexity of contemporary furniture, giving the ability to modify and redesign the mobile user.
