From the creative genius of one of one of the most versatile performers of contemporary design an original wood in soft Alcantara.
Thus it was born Alcantara-Wood, a project conceived by Nendo design studio which, exploiting one of the peculiarities of Alcantara, the characteristic of withstanding the raw cut without fraying, highlights the extreme flexibility of this covering material.
Rolling and gluing various layers in different colors, nendo creates a kind of trunk, cut longitudinally, creates tables with caressing veins.
The Japanese design studio has taken Alcantara to its extreme, using it to create a new perception, almost a new material presented in an expanse in which the gaze is immersed. The versatility of its nature is thus pushed to a real metamorphosis, giving life to a solution that recalls the craftsmanship of the craftsmanship of the inlays of the master cabinetmakers, revisited by Japanese composure and a sense of measure for shapes and colors.
The result is a completely original wood, to cover the furnishing accessories with the soft touch of Alcantara.
The inspiration for this extraordinary project came from the invitation to the designer to take part, together with other great interpreters of modernity, in the exhibition "Alcantara, Technology of Dreams" at Palazzo Reale in Milan from 23 April to 31 May 2015.
The exceptional setting of the rooms of the Prince's Apartment, full of memories and suggestions of the past, was an opportunity to give new proof of the extraordinary characteristics of Alcantara through site-specific works. Beauty, flexibility, tactility, enveloping and transformability were the basis of installations that Gentucca Bini - Giulio Cappellini - Ingo Maurer - Paola Navone - Migliore and Servetto e nendo - were able to imagine in a fantastic dimension made possible by high technology.
In “La stanza del Principe”, conceived by the Japanese design studio, an immaculate stage housed seats in precious Alcantara Wood.
