Perched on a private island north of the Canadian city of Toronto, this sculpted sauna was built using three-dimensional technology for scanning, modeling and pattern building.
Designed by studio Partisan, Was the result of a comprehensive research designed to simulate a natural cave.
The interior of the sauna boasts bold sinuous shapes that reference dynamic air movements, as well as providing comfortable, welcoming seating environments. Large openings offer views of the bay, while a skylight positioned on the roof brings natural light inside.
Most of the prefab was built before being transported there by boat and fixed in the prehistoric rocky part of the island. The details inside have been developed in close collaboration with the partner manufacturer millwork, ensuring a high level of integrated craftsmanship.
