The UAE Pavilion Expo 2015 opened, bringing the planning principles of the traditional desert city in Milan.
Designed by famed British architect Foster + Partners , The interior of the pavilion reflects the ancient community of the UAE.
Visitors are attracted to a canyon-like space, with 12-meter high wavy walls and long 140s. Influenced by ancient planning principles, the paths that run through the pavilion look like the narrow pedestrian streets and courtyards of the ancient desert city.
To convey a distinctive sense of the place, the consistency of the walls derives from a scan of the desert. The glass-fiber reinforced concrete panels are supported by a steel frame, which can be easily dismantled and rebuilt for the eventual transfer of the pavilion.
