The Norwegian study TYIN tegnestue architects recently completed 'naust paaAure', a boathouse on the north-west coast of kommune Aure in the municipality of Møre og Romsdal, Norway. Retaining the traditional boat and fishing gear storage space, this structure replaces a dilapidated 1800s building, reusing the original materials to build the new structure. Converted for summer holidays, the long façade is made up of shuttering that can be opened completely to welcome air and keep the single internal space cool. Simple steel fittings allow the shutters to be lifted upwards, making them take on the function of sheltering the adjacent external space.
