A synthesis between history and modernity is the project of the Casa S.Bartolomeu by Sónia Cruz Arquitectura, located in a central area of the city of Aveiro, on the border with its historic center - the Bairro Beira Mar.

The street that gives the house its name marks the transition between the older 2-storey single-family houses and the modern 4-storey residential buildings. Its location is close to services, commerce, fire brigade, schools and local government, expressing local characteristics in contact with contemporary materials and languages. In this situation, the building replicates and reinterprets the characteristics of the place, through the rhythm of the openings and cladding materials.

The volume of Casa S.Bartolomeu was established by the municipal services, in order to create a harmonious transition between the historic area and the more recent construction area. The building is divided into two T2 type houses, each with a private patio. Given the small size of the land, the organization of the interior has been designed to optimize the construction area and enhance its relationship with the rear garden.

The interiors of the houses reflect the central location of Casa S.Bartolomeu in the city, with pragmatic and functional spaces. The materials used, in addition to taking into account the characteristics of the place, respond effectively to the needs of contemporary life, with high quality finishes.

The architecture of Casa S.Bartolomeu is characterized by the use of contemporary shapes and materials that integrate harmoniously with the surrounding environment. The facades have a rhythm of windows that recalls the traditional houses of the area, but with a modern touch in the design and choice of cladding materials. The use of high quality materials, such as glass, steel and wood, gives the building an elegant and sophisticated look, highlighting the attention to detail and care for construction quality.

Inside, the houses offer functional and well-organized spaces, optimizing the available area to the maximum. The premises are bright and welcoming, with large windows that allow in natural light and offer a panoramic view of the city. The finishes are of a high quality, with wooden floors, plastered walls and contemporary design details, which give an atmosphere of modernity and comfort.
