renovation of a long and narrow house in Beira Mar

Renovation of a long and narrow house in Beira Mar - Paulo Martin ARQ & DESIGN
renovation of a long and narrow house in Beira Mar it has been modified: 2021-06-12 di Benedetto Fiori

Located in one of the most typical and historical districts of Aveiro (Beira Mar), this long and narrow house is the result of a passionate and inspiring renovation, which intends to give the city and its users a free lifestyle in contact with outdoor spaces, with the sound of seagulls and the smell of the sea breeze, the color of the sky and the green of the vegetation.

Built on a plot of land 30 meters long and 2,5 meters wide, a long and narrow house which formally imposes itself as a habitable corridor, and which, from the moment of entry, is filled with moments of darkness, light, surprise, discovery, compression and, finally, offers… the courtyard patio!

With sober and elementary materials fundamental and essential functions are covered in concrete, such as the floor and the space that houses the bathrooms and the service area. The building was clad and protected with dark green tinted plasterboard, rigorously shielded for its new and reinvigorated life cycle.

If on the one hand we want a dark and intimate interior environmentor, by conceptual and practical contrast, the outside is white, a deliberately reflective surface that floods the house with light, sometimes diffused and soft, sometimes direct and intense, like the reflection of the various moods of those who live there.

Regarding the design, all the social functions have been designed to take place on the ground floor, in direct contact with the patio of the courtyard of the house, while the upper floor it is reserved for both bedrooms and the solarium, visually protected from unwanted eyes by a plant curtain. This house was designed to be lived and lived in the privacy and freshness of the outside, in tune with the past and with a deep respect for the future.
