Ai Giudici is a small Cafeteria Lounge Bar in the center of Palermo. The client's idea included the possibility of having a cafeteria and a lounge bar, a request that the DiDeA studio interpreted by creating a space with a double value, through the use of two materials: warm wood in the daytime spaces and rust-colored iron in the night environment.
The entrance to the restaurant, a single floor at street level, opens onto the cafeteria area, where the wooden furnishings - seats, counters and tables, as well as container elements, flower boxes on the walls and hanging lighting fixtures - are conceived as modules grafted onto a iron grid structure, which rises from the floor onto the walls and ceiling, marking the space three-dimensionally.
In the middle of the room, where the evening activity is concentrated, bursts volume bias treated iron rust color that embraces floor, walls and ceiling and includes a bar counter, illuminated by soft lighting suspended.
The attractive character of flexibility and visual continuity of space is said decorated geometrically essential, which can easily change position within the metal structure, allowing different configurations depending on the use.
The choice is not invasive of glass floor, floating and raised on legs iron, it has allowed to keep intact the original flooring in marble, further enhanced by LED lighting below, and reaching the entrance fee of the room, avoiding steps.
As the architects explain:
"The design intention has been to create a flexible environment and comfortable, creating a warm through a post-industrial design with a character tension load material".
