Vladimir Afanasev created the interior of a small rented apartment in Moscow. Forty-five square meters managed to accommodate a bedroom, a kitchen-living room, a bathroom and a utility room-laundry room.
This is not the first project developed for clients, and this time they asked to create a rental apartment, completely relying on the designer's taste. The clients agreed on an approximate budget, handed over the keys and returned to the place just six months later.
The original layout of the apartment did not include constraints on the load-bearing walls. The wet area, in agreement with the developer, was moved slightly, so a separate utility room-laundry appeared in the project, which made it possible to hide household functions.
Thanks to the trust shown by customers, it was possible to move away from the traditional neutral palette of rental apartments. It was decided to focus on bright colors, unexpected patterns and ornaments. The visual solution is based on turquoise, white, gray, red and terracotta. All were used in equivalent large volumes. A rather dark corridor, painted with a deep terracotta ceiling, smoothly transforms into a well-lit living room.
The same tone is used as the main background for the bathroom, the functional area of which is outlined by rhythmically arranged rectangular tiles. On the contrary, it was decided to make the bedroom dark, and it was possible to unite it with the rest of the rooms by partially quoting the colors and a bright red door leading to it. Vintage Italian sconces and a 70s chair added comfort and completeness to her design.
All metal products — the console and bedside tables in the bedroom, the accessories in the bathroom — are completely customized and were made according to the author's drawings in a single copy.
The art deserves a special mention. It took a lot of time and accessories to find the perfect shot. But in the end, everything fell into place and gave this small apartment a special charm.
