designed by James Stockwell Architects, The Croft House è a rural house with a modern design built on the south coast of Victoria, Australia, where strong winds and rain prevail. This futuristic house may appear in heavy contrast to its surroundings, but the design draws inspiration from the context, while also offering protection from its cruel climate. In fact, the curved shape of the outer wall is not entirely arbitrary, but acts as a barrier against the wind.

The outer walls of the structure, Coated in zinc gray, also refer to the popular local use of corrugated metal as a coating, which adds a favorable element for maintenance.

The gray exterior hides the warm wooden interior, clad in ash panels with compressed sand partitions that help dissect the huge open space. A large wood stove sits in the center and heats the whole house with the help of the extreme insulation of both walls and underfloor heating.
