The national pavilion of Vietnam for Expo Milano 2015 has opened, responding to the theme of “feeding the planet, energy for life”.
Designed by vo Trong Nghia architects , the project examines the global increase in population. The temporary bamboo structure refers to the lotus, the national flower of Vietnam and a symbol of optimism for the future.
The exhibition space is organized around a shallow swimming pool that surrounds the pavilion, the cooling air creates a pleasant microclimate. Guests cross the water on lotus leaf-shaped platforms that provide a shaded space for outdoor recreation. In order to reduce the environmental impact, the prefabricated bamboo structure can be easily disassembled and reused after the event.
