A synthesis of forms, materials and techniques of the Italian tradition is what leads Andy Martin Architecture to an interpretation of the architectural space aimed at reconstructing a faithful portrait of Italian taste.
This is the concept on which the philosophy of the Fucina restaurant in London is based, which is also found in the kitchen, based on organic products, sustainable and prepared with artisan techniques of Italian tradition
Andy Martin Architecture has solved the design with a contemporary representation of elements that make up the rich Italian culture. The handcrafted antique brick ceiling is formed and warped like a vaulted brick ceiling, inverted, creating a visually dynamic atmosphere in this restaurant.
The view of the street is obscured by a screen composed of a steel frame and hand-colored glass panels, which create an ecclesiastical ambiance along with the lights and candles.
The marble floors are reminiscent of Carlo Scarpa's Olivetti building. The hand-picked "pickled" wooden floors cover the central part throughout the restaurant.
Along with bricks, marble and wood, burnished steel is the dominant material and refers to the name 'Forge'. The furniture is inspired by the tree - its branches, its roots. The large tables grow from the floor and the chairs are crafted from refined and worked branches.
