The German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2012, organized by ARCH + and sponsored among others by Dornbracht, it was curated by Muck Petzet, Konstantin Grcic and Erica Overmeer, the theme is that of the three Rs: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, see existing architecture as a resource, a heritage to draw on by redeveloping it , considering this operation as a new creative opportunity for the architect.
An important issue for a country like Germany which has a large number of buildings built in the post-war period, between the 50s and 70s, now abandoned.
The sixteen projects selected and hosted in the pavilion are united by the recovery of existing artifacts, are presented with large photographs by photographer Erica Overmeer and tell precious details that reveal the design approach of the various studios.
