In the transformation of Chaikovsky's industrial city into a seaside resort, architecture takes on a crucial role in shaping the desired environment and atmosphere. The “Amulet” project of the dot.bureau architecture office outlined an ambitious vision for the renovated shore of Saigatsky Bay, transforming it into a welcoming and serene space, ideal for relaxation and leisure.
Chaikovsky, located in the Perm region, is surrounded by water on three sides: the Kama River, the vast Saigatsky Bay and the Votkinsk Reservoir. The shore of Saigatsky Bay is thus configured as the starting point for a new era for the city, no longer just as an industrial center, but as a blossoming seaside resort.
The architects identified the northern beach and the area near the “Chaika” sanatorium as the main centers of activity along the shore. The main entrances to the shore are located at these points. Among them, on natural terrain, there is an amphitheater with a stage and a large playground.
A sports and recreational cluster has been created in the area of the “Chaika” sanatorium. It includes several modern equipped sports facilities and an elegant wooden pavilion, decorated with Suntan WOOD materials, with a universal hall suitable for hosting various city events – from conferences to concerts – at any time of the year.
The main route along the bay includes a promenade, a cycle path and a running track with a special surface. These paths are visually separated from each other by green spaces and lighting supports. The linear walk is “diluted” with secluded resting places and small lawns with training equipment, surrounded by decorative shrubs – “green rooms”.
The pedestrian path ends with a beach, on the border of which a multifunctional pavilion houses all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable stay: boat and equipment rental, a coffee point, a café with a terrace open all year round, closed changing rooms with showers, bathrooms, a room for mothers and babies, a lifeguard station and a first aid station.
The beach offers enough seating so that citizens can enjoy time spent by the water, sunbathing and swimming, and separate areas have been created for children and athletes.
The architecture of the wooden pavilions along the shore conceptually reflects a peculiar feature of the Tchaikovsky cityscape: the combination of the strict geometry of the complex urban development and the soft natural lines of the coast and forest masses surrounding the city. The structure is responsible for “rigidity”, forming cells – lots. Their number and filling depend on the location and functional purpose of the building. This technology allows for a flexible response to needs, increasing or decreasing the number of batches as needed.
