The dome is formed by a perforated cap to facilitate cooling of the lamp holder and by a movable ring that allows to adjust the position.

Arco Lamp is one of the Italian design icons of the second half of the twentieth century, A real example of a modern classic.

The brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni drew this lamp inspired by the street lamps. Each light element is purely functional and not decorative, the hole on a marble base, for example, by inserting inside a fairly sturdy stick, is used to move the lamp in another place of the house, also the chamfers on the corners of the base are not decorative, but avoid the danger of the angles acute.

The first idea of the Castiglioni brothers was to realize the concrete base, but then the marble was chosen because at equal weight had a smaller volume and could ensure better at a lower cost finish.

Achilles e Pier Giacomo Castiglioni are two of the most influential figures in the history of Italian design, their works are exhibited in museums all over the world, first and foremost the MoMa in New York.
