Homemade Dessert, in collaboration with the City of Liepaja, invites you to participate in the third international architectural competition on Karosta, Latvia: War Town Microtecture.

Karosta can be translated as a port of war. It is located in the western part of Latvia, in the city of Liepaja. Karosta was born to be a secret military base for the Russian empire, and later for the Soviets. Since Latvia regained its independence in 1991, the Soviet army has had to leave Karosta. As a result, the population dropped dramatically from 25 to 000 and the city fell into a state of partial desperation.

For a plan of urban regeneration of Karosta at all scalesThis time Homemade Dessert asks to focus on forms of architecture small: play areas, bus stops, benches and information boards , in order to develop a coherent concept to strengthen and reflect the identity of the Karosta.

Further information on the constraints of the site, the requirements of the design proposals and recommendations, can be found in the announcement available for download on homemadedessert.org
