Description

As part of the M'Afrique project ”, Patrizia Moroso (artistic director of the homonymous brand) has proposed to some artists (designers, architects, photographers) to convey the strength and beauty of Africa in their works. The designers Patricia Urquiola, Tord Boontje and Birsel & Seck lent themselves to the game, creating a collection of outdoor furniture that derives from the creative language and culture of Africa. The result is mind-blowing: this collection is exuberant, full of humanity, baroque, colorful and full of life. A delight for the eyes and an invitation to travel… M'Afrique is a perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity: each piece in the collection is handcrafted by local artisans from a Senegalese atelier created by Moroso. The weaving technique used is traditionally used in Africa to make fishing nets. A remarkable craftsmanship that makes each M'Afrique creation a unique piece. A trendy "exo chic" effect for this stool by Patricia Urquiola. Suggestive and eccentric, Touti looks like a tree trunk resting on the ground… This stool with an ultra-original shape is a mystical object that belongs to both the past and the present. A creation that transmits both tradition and modernity, innovation and history, form and beauty. The ethnic motifs in hyper-vitaminic colors are obtained by hand weaving countless multicolored plastic threads on a steel structure. It is used both indoors and outdoors.
