Description

Within the framework of the "M'Afrique" project, Moroso proposed to some artists (designers, architects, photographers) to convey the strength and beauty of Africa in their works. Ethnic prints in bright colors for an absolutely trendy “exo chic” effect! With the imposing Shadowy armchair, Tord Boontje offers us a poetic and eccentric interpretation of Africa. A meeting point of multiple inspirations, the Shadowy armchair is a true masterpiece. The Dutch designer manages to mix baroque and art nouveau ethnic style, with humor and panache! The extremely original curved shapes evoke the beach chairs of the 20s. The hugely high backrest, armrests and seat of Shadowy end with curved lines that give it the appearance of a throne. The backrest extends to form a parasol. These enveloping shapes give Shadowy the appearance of a refuge, a cocoon of protection. The ethnic and colorful prints are first drawn and then digitized by designer Tord Boontje. Then they are handmade by African master craftsmen, in a Senegalese atelier created by Moroso. The countless multicolored plastic threads are meticulously intertwined to give life to the geometric patterns. The wires are stretched on a painted steel structure. The weaving technique used is traditionally used in Africa to make fishing nets. A considerable craftsmanship that makes each Shadowy armchair a unique example. The Shadowy armchair is available in five colors: Multired (orange, red, yellow, brown), Multigreen (green, blue), Supercolor (red, black, white), Black & White (black and white), Plain Green (tinted green) unit). Shadowy is also a chaise longue. Indoor and outdoor - Handcrafted weaving made in a Senegalese workshop created by Moroso
