Umut Yamaç is an architect, designer and creator of kinetic works based in London.
During his career as an architect, Umut Yamaç was attracted to the 1: 1 scale drawing of mechanical details and in 2011 he founded his own design studio to combine this interest with a love for his work.
Because the Light is a light sculptural balancing in folded paper and brass. There lamp it takes the form of an abstract bird that appears to be delicately balanced on its metal perch. The bird is illuminated through contact with the roost and this allows the lamp to balance without any cables while maintaining the luminescence.
The design was inspired by nature and, in particular, the elegance and beauty of a bird on its perch.
