Una library modern one designed by Djuric Tardio Architects for Helsinki, an elementary and great emblem of the Finnish essence, culture, knowledge, and the result of this technological wooden construction. These are the objectives that give life to a building out of the ordinary, voluntarily unusual in the Finnish landscape, in order to take the user on a journey.
Simple but dynamic, is composed of 3 different areas: The hall and the multipurpose program, the library and the space cinema. A front upright on the side of the road and a more open and articulated façade on the side of the park, protected by giant vertical pergolas. The heart of the project, the library, is designed as a spiral, A double ramp concentric around a veritable tower of books, also called the "Tower of Knowledge" where the original books are available to read traditional, as well as in the online version.
The reception, the bar, the self-service, the access to the shelves, the children's world and the multipurpose room, the path to the cinema and the library, the restaurants and their outdoor terraces are organized as a single and large common area. In this way, the new central library of Helsinki becomes a space for the city and its citizensWhich can accommodate events and performances.
