Rebirth of the Bath House, Architecture Competition it has been modified: 2022-06-03 di jessica zannori

The first competition in a design series focused on Liepaja Seaside Park, a historically exclusive refuge area in Liepaja, Latvia, presents the opportunity to express your vision for the relaunch and further development of the 'Bath House', designed by Paul Max Berchi in 1902.

Within its richly furnished halls, visitors had the opportunity to experience immersion in warm sea water, and healing with mud baths. Visitors were offered a range of recreational therapies such as hydrotherapy, Roman and Irish saunas, mud, carbonic acid, and sulfur baths.

After the Second World War the swimming facility functioned as a sanatorium resort, attracting people seeking health and relaxation from Latvia and abroad. In 1978 an underground lake at 1300 meters was discovered, containing high quality minerals. Soon after 1993, Latvia regained its independence and the sanatorium was closed, however, thanks to the region's rapid economic growth, there are now hopes that this landmark building could be restored and once again used as the Bath House.
